Trace element analysis is carried out by quadrupole ICP-MS and data reduction is carried out in house using multiple independently calibrated internal standards. Precision for most elements is 2-3%. Solid sample analysis is achieved using a laser ablation system (Resolution Excimer laser) in conjunction with an ICP-MS used excllusively for laser analysis, yielding precision of better than 3% for most elements.

  [### DCP

](/dcp)Major ( Si, Al, Ca, Mg, Fe, Na, K, Ti, and Mn) and minor (Zn, Co, Cu, Sr, Ni, V, Ba, Cr, Sc, and Ge) elements are measured by direct couple plasma (DCP) optical emission spectrometry (OES).
